The pre-publication checklist we run on every manuscript

Pass one, structure: title page present, copyright page present with the correct year and rights statement, dedication placed before chapter one, table of contents generated from real heading styles, chapters numbered consistently, no orphaned headings, back matter present.

Pass two, formatting: no manual page breaks used for spacing, consistent paragraph indentation, consistent line spacing, curly quotes throughout, no double spaces after periods, images at 300 DPI or better, no text embedded in images.

Pass three, language: spelling consistent to one locale, character and place names spelled identically throughout, no duplicated paragraphs from revision passes, dialogue punctuation consistent, tense consistent within scenes.

Pass four, metadata: title and subtitle describe the book to someone who has never heard of it, description leads with a hook rather than a synopsis, seven distinct keyword phrases with no category duplication, two categories chosen for reachability rather than prestige, author bio present.

Pass five, risk: song lyrics cleared or removed, quotations attributed and within reasonable length, brand references descriptive only, cover art licence covers commercial book use, any AI-assisted content disclosed where required.
